


Like the Zelda remake, Star Fox also tones down the 3D effect considerably from the eye strain-inducing launch line-up, most memorably Pilotwings Resort. Hell, as a kid I asked a Electronics Boutique (now GAME) sales assistant if I could have the store's 6ft cardboard display of Fox McCloud and eventually kept it in my room for about a year. Is it enough or should gamers start picketing the Japanese giant's HQ until some original IP is available?įull disclosure: I love the original Star Fox 64 (or Lylat Wars as it was awkwardly titled in Europe), to the point that I encourage non-gamer friends to "Do a barrel roll" when faced with life's hurdles. In the meantime, Nintendo have seen fit to re-release another Nintendo 64 classic just two months after the well-received Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D remake.

Sadly, that hero is likely to be Mario and he doesn't arrive until November and December for the respective releases of Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.

With a lacklustre software lineup and the ugliest peripheral imaginable on the way, the glasses-free 3D handheld is crying out for a hero. These are truly testing times for Nintendo and its nearly five-months-old 3DS console.
